Our industry engagement includes the German Association of Space & Aerospace Industry (BDLI), German Association of Space & Aerospace (DGLR), American Chamber of Commerce, Frankfurt (AmCham), Component Obsolescence Group (COG), German Association for Defence Technology (DWT), Forum Space & Aerospace, Forum Space & Aerospace Baden Württemberg (LR BW) and the Chamber of Commerce Mannheim.
As a global leader, Collins is in a unique position to help drive the industry toward a more sustainable future. Collins recognizes that the greatest potential for making a positive impact is driving greater energy efficiency and lower emissions through disruptive technology and innovations. In Germany, Collins is participating in seven projects under the European Union’s Clean Aviation Joint Undertaking. As part of the initiative, Collins is collaborating with European airframers, engine makers, suppliers and academia to develop disruptive sustainable aviation technologies that will help the industry reach its shared commitment to Fly Net Zero by 2050 (as per 2021 IATA resolution).
Playing a key role in one of these projects is Collins’ subsidiary Nord-Micro, based in Frankfurt, that will work with Honeywell to provide cabin air distribution for its Clean Aviation Project TheMa4HERA, which stands for Thermal Management for Hybrid Electric Regional Aircraft. Given that the Frankfurt facility has decades of experience developing state-of-the-art cabin pressure controls and ventilation systems for commercial and military platforms, it will bring its expertise to the rest of the project consortium to help optimize the design of new cabin air solutions that will increase energy efficiency and reduce carbon emissions on future aircraft.
