FLEXIBILITY, AUTONOMY AND CAPABILITY IN THE AIRBORNE BATTLESPACE

Collins Aerospace is leveraging decades of experience delivering open architecture solutions for military avionics. We’re incorporating more customizable, modular communications and connectivity systems to that architecture, enabling you to keep pace with evolving threats and technologies.

Building on that breadth of experience, we’re restructuring open system architecture for our most advanced avionics solution – MOSARC™ – focusing on a separation between the air vehicle and mission system. This will enable rapid third-party integration into the field for current and future warfighters.

Collins MOSARC™ integrated avionics

Collins’ MOSARC integrated avionics solution is a revolutionary digital backbone solution that meets government open systems standards while ensuring the separation of air vehicle and mission system equipment and the ability to manage the exchange of information between the two. This increases performance, safety and cybersecurity.

As an industry leader, we provide:

Open and modular architecture
bounded and deterministic performance with
multi-level security and protection from
security vulnerabilities.

Scalable
creating small to large solutions using
reusable building blocks for safety and
mission-critical systems.

Configurable

reusable building blocks allow operators to
rapidly adapt the configuration of deployed solutions to accommodate different safety
and mission-critical systems.

Affordable

economically deploy variations of a system
and maintain the system long after
its initial deployment.

Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA)

Our open systems approach incorporates the technical and business strategies to provide systems that are well supported by Collins Aerospace and third-party embedded system providers from aviation and associated industries.

This approach uses the incremental acceptance process as defined in DO-297, which enables integration and acceptance of new components into a deployed Integrated Modular Avionics (IMA) system, as well as maintenance of existing components, without the need for re-acceptance efforts.

In addition, our leadership in groups such as the Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE™) Consortium provides us with unique open systems expertise and ensures we are on the forefront of open systems development and integration.

Displays

Combining our state-of-the-art technologies with military-hardened design, Collins Aerospace display units give today’s pilots unparalleled performance and reliability.

MFD-4820 Large Area Display
A wide, 8-by-20-inch monolithic liquid crystal display (LCD) with resistive multi-touch surface that is optimized for use with gloved hands to eliminate unintended touchscreen activations. The MFD has electrically independent left/right halves. This redundant-design architecture can enhance operation, usage and safety. Together, these features enable synchronized, artifact-free video formats across the center of the display.

AFD-3210
A flexible, 5.75-by-9-inch touchscreen display, the NVIS-compatible touchscreen is designed to be used either as a flight display in the instrument panel or as a system controller in low consoles. The display features a resistive multi-touch surface that is optimized for use with flight gloves.

MFD-4068 A8/A9
An 8-by-6 inch LCD available in portrait or landscape orientation with customer-specific input/output (I/O), key panel and/or touchscreen configurations. The MFD-4068 meets the most rugged military requirements, while providing an advanced, multi-core processing/graphics system that also meets the stringent requirement for safety certification in civil air transport aircraft.

Military cybersecurity & certification

The Collins Aerospace MOSARC integrated avionics solution leverages mature cybersecurity technologies, providing a low-cost, low-risk and certifiable solution for the U.S. Army.

With decades of experience integrating safety-critical products and systems that are certified by civil and military airworthiness authorities to the highest DALs, Collins Aerospace has developed a strong expertise in compliance with industry safety standards such as DO-178, DO-254 and DO-297.
