For more than a century, Collins Aerospace and its heritage companies have been operating in Germany - building upon iconic brands such as Dräger Aerospace, Fischer Seats, Kidde-Deugra, TELDIX and Nord-Micro.

From its nine major facilities across the country, Collins is advancing the capabilities of military and commercial aviation customers worldwide.

Six of these facilities are considered European Centers of Excellence, as they are the only sites in the region where these capabilities are present:

Space wheels and avionics for fighter jets (Heidelberg)
Oxygen systems (Lubeck)
Helicopter seats (Landshut)
Interior and exterior lighting systems for commercial and military aircraft (Lippstadt)
Electrical power distribution (Nördlingen)
Air management for cabin pressurization and ventilation systems for large commercial aircraft (Frankfurt and Munich)

Collins Aerospace in Germany serves a global customer base that includes aircraft and helicopter manufacturers, military ground and naval vehicle manufacturers, business jet operators and all branches of German and international armed forces. The company’s workforce provides services and solutions across the board, including engineering, production, repair and customer support.

Most of the company’s locations in Germany provide design and manufacturing expertise for a range of aircraft components, including aerostructures, avionics, interiors, mission systems and power & control systems. Several locations additionally specialize in maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services for multiple customers.

Its legacy of strong military avionics has helped Collins support key German and European aircraft and helicopter platforms – including the Tornado, Eurofighter, CH-53 and Saab Gripen – and positions the company for the forthcoming Future Air Combat System (FCAS). Collins has also been selected for a European Defence Fund project with support of the German Ministry of Defense, which aims to tackle the technological challenges of future air warfare to be integrated into tomorrow’s fighter cockpits.

Collins Aerospace German operations also are well-positioned to support customers of other future platforms, such as CH-47 Chinook helicopters and Lockheed Martin’s F-35 Lightning II. Collins’ Heidelberg facility, as an example, is the only site outside the U.S. with the security clearances necessary to conduct repairs on specific technical terminals.

Collins’ highly automated, state-of-the-art, high-volume production facility in Nördlingen is the only one in the world supplying every Boeing 787 Dreamliner, Airbus A350 and A220 aircraft with secondary power equipment
