Providing airline integration to Travel Pass

To help reopen international borders and restart the aviation industry, Collins Aerospace is teaming with IATA to provide support for its new digital health platform: Travel Pass. The app enables accurate information to be provided to airline passengers on test requirements as well as to verify that a passenger meets the requirements for travel to their selected location.

What does Travel Pass do?

The IATA Travel Pass is a global solution to validate and authenticate all country regulations regarding COVID-19 passenger travel requirements. The mobile application helps travellers plan, store and manage their verified test results for COVID-19 in a more secure and efficient way than current paper processes.

Giving airlines the ability to provide accurate information to their passengers on test requirements and to verify that passengers meet the requirements for travel is key to getting travelers back in the air.

Making the connections

Using the connections we’ve already established with many of the world's airline systems, Collins Aerospace is making integration with Travel Pass easy and streamlined. Our established platform sends passenger itinerary data safely and securely to the Travel Pass application. From there, itineraries are checked against destination requirements and COVID health results to determine an “OK to travel” status. That status can then be updated for each passenger in the airline’s system, eliminating the need for agents to manually verify a traveler’s health credentials at check-in. Passenger processing is streamlined, self-service options are re-enabled, and operational efficiency is increased as smart business rules can be implemented, such as automated bag drops that will not accept the bags of passengers that are not cleared to fly.

In addition, the digital platform:

  1. Informs passengers as to what tests and vaccines are required prior to their travel
  2. Provides details on where tests are available
  3. Enables them to share information in a verifiable, safe and privacy-protected manner
