Collins Aerospace in France earns FRA 21J certification for military airborne platforms

  • First step toward European-level EMAR 21 design organization approval

Toulouse, FRANCE (Jan. 28, 2019) ‒ Collins Aerospace in France has been awarded FRA 21J design organization approval for military airworthiness by the French defence procurement agency, Direction Générale de l’Armement (DGA). This certification demonstrates that Collins Aerospace follows robust processes for performing design changes and repairs on avionics and structures for military airborne platforms.

FRA 21J design organization approval is a first step toward achieving European Military Airworthiness Requirements (EMAR) 21 certification of military aircraft and related products, parts and appliances. EMAR certification recognizes capabilities across approximately 30 European member states.

“Achieving this certification from the DGA allows our organization to be a trusted vendor for retrofits and upgrades on French military airborne platforms since we subscribe to a set of defined technical safety objectives,” said Olivier Pedron, managing director of Collins Aerospace Avionics in France. “This certification now opens new markets for us in France, with additional opportunities forthcoming once we earn design approval at the European level.”
