Collins Aerospace announces Soldier On sponsorship to support wounded veterans in Canada

OTTAWA (Oct. 31, 2022) – Collins Aerospace today announced a new collaboration with Soldier On, a program supporting ill and injured service members and veterans of the Canadian Armed Forces through physical and creative activity. As part of the $50,000 CAD two-year commitment, Collins will sponsor a series of races and events (both in-person and virtual) where Canadian veterans will come together in a spirit of camaraderie and community.

In September, Soldier On members completed the program’s inaugural Conquer the Rideau Canal event, sponsored for the first time by Collins. During the 10-day national event, service members and veterans from across Canada challenged themselves by canoeing the length of the canal (208 kilometers) from Kingston to Ottawa.

Collins will also sponsor the Soldier On team’s participation in the 2022 Canada Army Run on November 6 in Ottawa. The run is an opportunity for Canadians to thank Armed Forces service members through a series of races (5K, 10K or half marathon). Collins employees will join the run and support service members throughout the week by racing virtually and in person.

“We are passionate about supporting our veterans and giving back to our communities. Our commitment to Soldier On will bring life-changing resources to help and empower wounded service members, veterans and their families,” said Louis Brunet, Canada managing director for Collins Aerospace. “Many of our employees are veterans, so it’s an honor for us to work together with Soldier On to support and celebrate Canadian service members.”

“Soldier On is the most direct way of inspiring, empowering and enabling the recovery of Canada’s ill and injured serving members and veterans as they safely challenge their new normal, rebuild camaraderie and inspire their peers to put their hands up for support. We are so grateful to Collins Aerospace for their passionate and generous support. Together, we are changing lives and reminding Soldier On members that they are not alone,” said Major (retired) Jay Feyko, National Manager of Soldier On.

With more than 1,300 employees spread across four Canadian locations, Collins provides a range of key solutions and services to the Canadian Armed Forces and the Canadian commercial aerospace industry. Through its legacy businesses, Collins has operated in Canada since 1951.
