Our mission
Our Customer Experience Center (CEC) in Huntsville, AL is an open systems center of excellence designed to foster customer, industry, and RTX collaboration. The CEC provides a forum to leverage our enterprise capabilities and work together with customers and industry partners to uncover the next generation of transformational solutions. We’re committed to accelerating development and demonstration of MOSA-aligned, next-generation technologies that will empower our customers to do what’s never been done.
Our capabilities
Avionics bay
A representation of the various computing products that are offered throughout Collins Aerospace, to include the Mosarc™ Air Vehicle Computer, COSMC mission computing, Perigon® flight control computing and Flexlink. This is also the area where Collins conducts 3rd party hardware and software MOSA integration demonstrations with partners in industry.
CEC aircraft simulator
An immersive setting where cutting edge technology and sophisticated design converge. Visitors can sit in the cockpit where they will have an ultra-realistic aviation experience which features authentic controls and panoramic high-resolution visuals that replicate the flight environment. The simulator features our MFD-480 Large Area Displays, AFD-3200 displays, and switch panels.
Lighting
Hypergamut lighting, micro-reading light and dual mode panel lighting, dual mode position and anti-collision lights, and dual mode formation lights are all features included in the CEC.
Ice protection
The CEC incorporates Collins' advanced full rotor ice protection systems with integrated ice detection, utilizing their patented electrothermal DuraTherm® technology to ensure continuous heater operation and enhance reliability in challenging aerospace environments.
Seating
The CEC features crashworthy, low-weight, and ergonomic troop, pilot, and co-pilot seating designed for maximum safety and comfort while minimizing aircraft weight to enhance performance and fuel efficiency. These seats are engineered to absorb the impact of energy in crashes and reduce fatigue during long durations.
Mobile display area
This curated space highlights our most advanced products in an ever-changing environment where visitors can experience hands-on interactions designed to bring our technology to life.
Antenna integrated structure
Structurally integrated antennas (SIA) offer high levels of antenna performance, with potential for Low-Radar Cross Section (RCS) with no aerodynamic drag and weight penalties associated with current COTs/MOTS HF and VLF antenna offerings.
Threat Shield™ Mini/CVCAD
The Threat Shield™ – Mini/Compact Vapor Chemical Agent Detector (CVCAD) are small, lightweight, battery operated and specifically designed to be wearable or handheld.
Abrams 28KW Main Generator
This electrical system upgrade provides 60% more power in the same space claim as the previous version and ensures the Abrams has the power to successfully operate on the net-centric battlefields of today and tomorrow.
Micro-turbine generator
The MTG concept is forecasted to generate power equivalent to 500 lithium batteries and is scalable down to 3-5 inches. The MTG boosts ultra-high rotational speeds and can support a wide range of fuels throughout the entire flight profile.
