Flight path optimization

When pilots re-route to compensate for weather changes, it often adds significant time and distance to the flight plan. Now, Collins is leveraging environmental data, such as prevailing winds and convective weather, as well as air traffic and other airspace information, from a variety of connected sources to optimize an aircraft’s flight path. This will provide more up-to-the-minute route suggestions so pilots can coordinate with dispatchers and air traffic control  to minimize flight plan deviation, fuel burn and missed connections.
